Cintra iQ provides a Data Import feature allowing the import of data. This can range from the initial loading of data required to set the system up, to updating salary payments once a year.
When importing data, there are certain fields that are mandatory to identifying a record for update, and certain fields which are mandatory for inserting a new record.
In general, when importing data, if an existing record can be identified for update, then it will be updated. If an existing record cannot be identified, then an attempt will be made to insert a new record.
When you import files, you can create a mapping template so that you can reuse the saved column mappings at a later date. This is so you do not have to repopulate the Destination (database) columns each time you want to perform an import.
To create a mapping template
- Navigate to the Import File window.
Go to Cintra iQ: File> Import> Data Import - Once you have mapped your source columns to the desired destinations in the data pane, click Save Mapping. The Save Import Mapping dialogue appears.
- Enter the name of the mapping template.
- Click OK. A message appears stating that the save is successful.
- Click OK. You are returned to the File Import window. The template’s name appears in the File Import Mapping drop down list on the first page.
Note: You can overwrite a mapping by selecting another file to import, and naming it the same as an existing mapping.
